Trivia Tidbit: Jenny Spence has been an English teacher, a soap opera scriptwriter and a technical writer. This is her first novel.
The story begins with two people in Elly's life being killed in quick succession, but for me the story really got going once Elly started making decisions - some smart, some not - that were considered and strong. I like Elly Cartwright as a protagonist because she is clever, but also knows when to ask for help. She is sometimes brave and sometimes vulnerable. She uses her brain and trusts her instincts. And she doesn't need to transform into a gun-toting IT wizard to save the day.
No Safe Place is a well paced, interesting, contemporary thriller. I think it is entirely likely Elly Cartwright will return, and I, for one, will be keeping an eye on where she goes to from here.
