This is the debut novel from Candice Fox, and is a fast-paced thriller. It makes interesting detours into childhood behaviour and its impacts on adult life, and into love, justice and retribution. It makes less-interesting detours into romantic interests and sexual attraction. I know these are standard for most contemporary crime novels, but they really weren't necessary here, and I thought they served primarily as a distraction from the action. I liked this story, and can see this as the beginning of a great crime series. Frank, Eden and Eric are all fabulously flawed characters who don't always make the right decisions, and it is this type of conflict that will make the characters and the storylines compulsory reading.
